This mermaid lock was created for the front door of a beautiful italianate-spanish, Mizner inspired mansion.  It measures 6.5 inches high and 10.5 inches wide. Nestled in a peaceful secluded cove on the Atlantic coast of Florida, this artful home beckoned for maritime accents to express the feel of its enchanting design.  For this project, the owner sought out Artist In Iron, one of the few remaining artist blacksmith studios in the world that designs and builds one of a kind masterpiece locks.  The artist, Robert Frieber, designed this lock with a partially exposed mechanism and embellished it with chisel and chased vines and scalloped edges.  The masterpiece lock is mounted on the inside of the door.  Not shown here is a bronze silhouette plate and the mermaid handle for exterior mounting.  The bronze weathers much better in the salt air and attains a beautiful patina of brown and green.
