| Shown here are a set of exterior bronze door plates and handles commissioned for the front entrance door of a house designed by the noted architects, Delano and Aldrich in the 1920s. The owner asked us to use the same motif on the hardware as was used in an earlier commission of a half oval wrought iron lunette made for an opening above the door (a picture of the lunette can be seen in this portfolio in the section on architectural iron work). The theme was carried over in the chisel and chase work at the top and bottom of the back plates. A set of identical hardware was constructed in wrought iron for the interior. This hardware accommodates the original Yale cylinder lock, which was restored at our studio. |
