| In the country side of northern Somerset Count, there is a fine home made of brick and slate. The house was built near the turn of the century and bears great architectural influence of a famous chateau in France. Over the front entrance was a half oval lunette with a solid wood louvered fan. In the renovation of this fine home, the new owners had the louvered fan removed and a glass plate window cut and installed. Artist In Iron was hired to design and build an iron grill to fit in this opening. The grill was designed with strong emphasis on the joinery. Note how the iron has been pierced to accommodate the banding. All the riveting is authentic. All the surfaces have been hand hammered and careful attention has been paid to preserve this fine surface texture in the finishing of the metal. Through a specially formulated process, we have created a beautiful blackened antique iron finish with a rusted patina. |
